The long rumored Android accessory, which is thought to be the most useful and interesting for the users, is finally available in Europe. Sony Ericsson’s LiveView is something like a wrist watch (actually It is a watch, too) which is capable of connecting to almost any Android mobile phone and display different notifications on its screen, so you don’t have to take the handset out of your pocket in order to read an SMS or see some new status updates in Facebook.

LiveView is offered for 59 Euros in France, 49 pounds in the UK, and about 42 Euros in Germany. Amazon is selling it for 90$. Regarding the hardware features of the device, it uses Bluetooth in order to establish a connection to the mobile phone and the general operating range is about 10m. It also has a 1.3-inch OLED display, two hardkeys and four softkeys. It is attached to your hand either via clip or wristband. As for its software abilities, LiveView can be used to control your music player – Play, pause, next, previous track and volume adjustment and also display the track title, or you can view the incoming SMS messages, RSS feeds, view Facebook and Twitter updates. You can also see the person who is calling you and even mute the ringtone of the mobile phone.

There are numerous rumors around the web about an upcoming mobile phone coming from Sony Ericsson, simply called Playstation Phone. Some say it is not real and Sony are not planning to release such device, others claim that it is real. Some pictures have hit the web space these days, which show us how the future handset would look like and… reveals that it will be running on Android OS. Pretty good thing that will surely increase the popularity of Android as a gaming platform – something for which it was criticized.

The Playstation phone will most likely have these specifications:

  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread
  • A custom Sony marketplace for video games for devices like this one
  • 1GHz Qualcomm MSM 8655 processor – probably most of us have expected something more from a gaming device
  • 512MB RAM
  • 1GB ROM
  • microSD card slot
  • Display between 3.7 and 4.1-inches but for a gaming handset, the bigger is always better

It is supposed that the new Sony marketplace will show up together with the release of Android Gingerbread.  The device itself is expected to hit the markets in 2011, but this is all which is known, as the device is yet in an early, buggy prototype version. So, gamers, get ready for the always-with-you game platform that will keep you busy for a long time.
