We’ve already seen LG G-Slate tablet at CES but hardly any additional information was available. In the past week there were numerous rumors, leaked videos and pictures about LG’s first tablet, but LG kept it all secret, neither confirming nor denying them, until now. The day when Google will present Android 3.0 Honeycomb is probably the best time to present this little piece of beauty. Probably the most interesting, unusual and exciting things about it – its ability to record and play 3D video. It seems like LG are on 3D wave, presenting the first 3D mobile phone for 14th February.
LG G-Slate will most likely be one of the first Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablets out on the market, as it is expected to be available starting from March this year. The tablet will also support (as already mentioned) playback and recording of 3D video, 4G connectivity, a 8.9-inch screen, support for 1080p HD video playback, one 5MP camera at the back with LED flash and a 2MP one in the front, a whole 32GB internal storage (pretty enough for a lot of music and pictures and some videos) and last but not least – the gaining popularity NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor.
Additional features like WiFi, HDMI, light and orientation sensors are also available. But unfortunately, one of the most important things was not announced by LG – the expected price of G-Slate. But with all those powerful tablets that are about to hit the markets in the upcoming several months, I’m pretty sure that the prices won’t be that much high.
We’ve seen the power of the Tegra 2 platform in many tablets but until now no one has integrated it into a mobile phone. There were rumors that the second Android phone – Nexus S will be running on Tegra 2, but they came out to be wrong. However, another phone will keep a Tegra 2 chip inside its body – LG Optimus 2X (which was formerly known as LG Star). At first it will be present only on the Korean market in January next year and after that followed by the Asia and European markets.
The specifications of LG Optimus X2 are quite impressive and if it wasn’t the small screen, everyone could think that these are the specs of a netbook. As already mentioned, the core of the handset is 1GHz Tegra 2 processor, supported by 4-inch WVGA screen, 8GB internal memory (which can be expanded via the microSD card slot with up to additional 32GB), 8MP rear camera and a 1.3MP front-facing one for video calling, HDMI mirroring, 1080p MPEG-4/H.264 video playback and recording and 1500mAh battery. At first the device will be offered with Android 2.2 FroYo as its OS but later on LG promise that you’ll be able to upgrade it to the just announced Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
All these specification look really fantastic and I’m sure that LG Optimus X2 will mark the start of a new era in the mobile phones’ life. Having a 1GHz 2-core processor in your pocket is really amazing. I remember the time 10 years ago when I had my first Pentium PC running at 400MHz – it was so big and noisy and now my mobile phone is times faster and smaller. All that’s left is to wait for the final price and head to the stores as soon as the LG Optimus X2 is released.
You all know the Android tablet, manufactured by Motorola, which Andy Rubin showed during Dive into Mobile last week, while presenting the new Android 3.0 Honeycomb and Google Maps 5 – well it seems that some more details about this tablet have leaked out in the wild, including a photo of the device. It seems that Andy Rubin is not the only guy who has the upcoming Motorola’s tablet, as the source of the leaked information is Taiwan, the website Mobile01.
It is said that Motorola will manufacture the tablet in 2 versions – a 7-inch one and a 10-inch. Furthermore, each one will be available in UMTS, CDMA and LTE network support. Among the rest rumored specifications (some of them are already confirmed by A. Rubin, like the Tegra 2 platform) include:
- NVIDIA Tegra 2 T20 Dual-Core Chipset
- 1280 x 800 WXGA resolution
- 32GB internal storage
- 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing one
Rumors also claim that the device itself is pretty light and that it is ready for the market, but still there is no information from Motorola about the tablet itself and possible release date and price. However, the hardware seem pretty good and the fact that it will be running Honeycomb + the option for 7 or 10-inch one would definitely make this a desired toy for many people. Probably the era of Samsung Galaxy Tab will end soon and a new one is about to begin? Stay tuned for more information about the upcoming Motorola Tablet.
The Black Friday is close and we are tempted by many interesting hot deals by almost every corner and website. Mobile phones, TVs, computers, tablets are offered a lot cheaper and this makes the Black Friday the perfect day for some shopping. If you are about to buy an Android-based tablet and you are not keen on Samsung Galaxy Tab or it is too expensive for your taste, then you might like ViewSonic 10-inch G tablet.
If you look at the hardware specifications of this tablet, you will be nicely surprised by the things it offers, considering the low price. As already said, it has a 10-inch capacitive touchscreen display, running at resolution of 1024×600 pixels, 512MB RAM, internal memory of whole 16GB, USB and HDMI ports, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi networks support, Bluetooth 2.1 and 1.3MP web camera. A good surprise is the core of the ViewSonic’s tablet – Tegra 2 chip. The operating system is Android 2.2 FroYo, so everything in this tablet is really up to date – hardware and software.
ViewSonic 10” G tablet will be available in almost every consumer electronics store, but if you are not keen on queuing in the stores or you’re too busy to go there, you can order it online. Whatever option you choose, the price is one and the same – 399$
We’re all used to the 1GHz processors in our mobile phones and everyone gets excited when we hear about a mobile phone, which will have a 1.2GHz or even faster processor in its heart. Many tablet manufacturers started integrating the Tegra 2 platform into their products and we all see the power of the 2 cores, but yet we haven’t seen them in a handset – at least not until now. There are some new leaked images of LG Star mobile phone.
It is expected to have a Tegra 2 core, a 4-inch Super AMOLED display (it could have been SAMOLED2 but this is excellent, too), a front facing camera and Android 2.3 OS on top of all. LG Star will also have a whole 8MP back camera, which will be able to record 1080p Full HD videos (pretty amazing for a mobile phone). From the photos we could see that it will include a LED flash (only one, no double) and most likely touch-sensitive hardware buttons for Menu, Home, Back and Search.
If all these specifications are true, or at least most of them, this will mean that LG are making a killer phone – something that we haven’t expected from them. But if LG are preparing such handset it’s almost 100% sure that the rest top manufacturers – Samsung, HTC and Motorola are preparing something to compete with LG Star. Or will it be the only Star on the sky?
For some months rumors about the new Galaxy S mobile phone – Samsung I9200 are going around the web. But now these rumors seem more and more real because there are leaked pictures and specifications. If the specifications are true, this will be one monster handset.
The leaked specifications of the Galaxy S2, which is not yet confirmed by anyone official, are:
- 4,3-inch Super AMOLED 2 display running at resolution of 1280x720px and 340dpi (this will definitely blow my mind – it will probably be the best display ever)
- 2GHz processor (twice more than the current high-end phones or maybe Samsung are going to use Tegra2?)
- 1GB RAM, 4GB ROM and up to 32GB storage via microSD card
- 8MP camera capable of recording HD video recording
- Bluetooth 3.0, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, A-GPS
- Accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor and all other types of sensors available in most Android devices on the market
- Running on Android 3.0 OS
The handset is expected to hit the markets in Q1 2011. I don’t know if these specifications are real or not, but everyone else – HTC, Motorola have announced their future devices for the early 2011 but Samsung remains silent. This makes me think that they are preparing something big and specifications like this may be really present in the upcoming Samsung handsets. Stay in touch for more news about the upcoming Android devices.
