Samsung Galaxy Tab

Patent battles and whats at stake…. well here’s a good example!

In a ruling by the British Judge Colin Birss, Apple now have to run ads both on their website and in print media stating that Samsung did not copy Apple’s iPad design.

Judge Briss ruled in favour of the technology giant Samsung last week by stating that the Galaxy Tab was not “as cool” as the Apple iPad and therefore did not infringe on Apple’s design of the iPad. Apple must publish a notice stating the fact on, not only their website for a minimum of six months but also in British newspapers.

This has got to be a pretty big blow to Apple’s future legal cases, you would wonder… if Steve was still around would you see this ad for Samsung up on the Apple website or better yet what way would twist it!

The phone will boast top specs with a quad core Processor, 2GB of ram, and a full HD 4.8 inch screen!

Shipping with the latest Android operating system (Ice-Cream Sandwich), and will also contain Samsung’s Touch Whiz skin which has proven so popular.

A features of the S2 which most people were not enamored with was its plastic rear. This is set to be remedied as the S3 may come with a ceramic rear casing. This is an unusual material choice for a phone but one that could prove popular in the future.

Samsung’s are touting this phone as being their flagship phone for the coming fiscal year. From what we can see so far we have no reason to doubt this.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 the latest tablet from Samsung has already been released in the USA and was supposed to be released in Europe by the 22nd July 2011. Unfortunately yet again the release date of the Tab 10.1 has been delayed even further. Samsung have declined to give a definite future date only saying it will be released later this Summer…

For those who don’t know the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is a hot competitor to Apple’s iPad 2, both in the 10 Inch screen range. The Tab runs version 3.1 of android, this version being specifically designed for tablets. There is an excellent review of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 over on Engadget.

If you are thinking of joining the world of tableteers you should really consider the Tab as an alternative to the iPad 2. The first being, due to Android of course is the huge range of customizations available on the Galaxy Tab compared to the iPad 2, all iPads are the same except the wallpapers which Apple amazingly do allow you to change!. Pro’s of the Tab over the iPad are more RAM, 1GB vs 500MB on the iPad.
Display is slightly bigger on the Tab 10.1 at 10.1 inches verses 9.7 inches, this means the resolutions is higher but the Pixels Per Inch (ppi) are greater on the Tab than the iPad, 149 on the Tab and 132 for the iPad.

I’m not even gonna start on the cameras on the iPad…. lets just say they are poor, both front and rear. The Samsung Galaxy 10.1 has a 2MP on the front and 3MP on the back. Stereo sound on the Tab only mono on the iPad. In all honesty I can not think of a reason to choose the iPad 2 over the Galaxy Tab, if you know of one, let me know!

It seems like every other day, the smart phone market comes up with yet another Android phone or a tablet from the houses of the giant phone or tablet makers like Samsung, HTC or Toshiba. If you look at four major mobile careers in the US and you will come to know that either they have come up with more than eight new android smart phones and there are at least twelve more phones in queue either to be announced or to be launched in coming summer.

It’s definitely good news but with so many announcements, one can really get confused about which one is right for him/her. So, I thought to take a look at what’s coming in the market this astonishing android summer.

Lately, the most active mobile carrier is T-Mobile, announcing three android phones with their launch in second half of June. The first one is HTC Sensation 4G coming to market on 15th June which is quickly followed by two more phones from Samsung, Samsung Gravity Smart and Samsung Exhibit 4G.

If we talk about AT&T, they are launching their next android phone – The Crossover within the next couple of days on 5th of June. This phone is expected to fly off the shelves with its lower cost of $69.99 on a two years’ contract.

Let us come to Sprint which have announced the launch of three phones in the near future. The models of this line up are HTC Evo 3D, Motorola Titanium and Motorola XPRT. A Motorola XPRT is expected in a couple of days on 5th June just when AT&T is launching their Crossover.

However, at the same time, Verizon is concentrating more on a tablet Galaxy tab 10.1 which is on horizon. Its launch is on horizon and its preorders are starting from 8th June.

One of the latest technologies announced by Google is the Near Field Communication (long for NFC), which is a short-range wireless data exchange between devices. Available only on the newest Android smart phone, the Nexus S made by Samsung, NFC is a technology, which promises a lot.

The Nexus S has a chip implemented in the motherboard, which can store all sort of information regarding credit and debit card, networking contact storage or PINs. The process is similar with the price tags scanning devices you will find in stores. Besides ordinary functions, such as data sharing between users or launching phone calls, you can use your smart phone as a payment tool also. Because is a relatively new technology, Android established a payment limit which you can use to buy goods, at 25 US dollars. However, once the system will be stable the benefits of such a technology will be huge.

Imagine a smart phone that can replace your wallet or credit cards, and with whom you will be able to buy any product at any price. In addition, NFC technology will be more secure in case something goes wrong with your device. Thanks to the ability of using a GPS tracking software on your Android phone you will feel safer to know that whoever steals your phone will not be able to use your personal information. NFC works from a small distance, no longer than four inches, in order to prevent accidental access to your smart phone. So, NFC is a real good technology to adapt to.

Are you among the people, who have received the long-waited Android 2.2 FroYo on your Galaxy S handset or you are still waiting it? But no matter if you have the FroYo or not, do you still experience some lag issues or you’re not satisfied with the speed of your device? If the answer to these questions is positive, then the new custom ROM from Kalpik from XDA-Developers might be the sweet candy for your Galaxy that you’ve wanted.

The new Android 2.2.1 XXJPU ROM really boosts up your Galaxy S phone with performance improvements in the following areas:

  • 339MB free RAM because of reduced drivers footprint
  • improved UI speed

  • reportedly improved GPS and video player
  • OTA (over-the-air) updates, however it is not known if this version will receive any.

  • Swype version 2.9.51.13071 with the following languages: (spelling by XDA) US English, UK English, Netherlands, Francais, Deutsch, Italiano, Polski, Portugues, Espanol, Turkce and more (reportedly Ukrainian or Korean)

So if you are into installing custom ROMs and you would like to get the maximum speed and performance out of your Galaxy S, then download this ROM and give it a try. If you haven’t rooted your handset but you are willing to try something new, or are still running on Android 2.1 and would like to try the FroYo, dive in and install this custom ROM. But please remember, that this is a leaked and modified firmware update and Android Mobiles does not take responsibility for any damage to your device. If you are unsure how to root and install custom ROMs and what exactly you are doing, then it is better to wait for the official update from Samsung.

You all know the Android tablet, manufactured by Motorola, which Andy Rubin showed during Dive into Mobile last week, while presenting the new Android 3.0 Honeycomb and Google Maps 5 – well it seems that some more details about this tablet have leaked out in the wild, including a photo of the device. It seems that Andy Rubin is not the only guy who has the upcoming Motorola’s tablet, as the source of the leaked information is Taiwan, the website Mobile01.

It is said that Motorola will manufacture the tablet in 2 versions – a 7-inch one and a 10-inch. Furthermore, each one will be available in UMTS, CDMA and LTE network support. Among the rest rumored specifications (some of them are already confirmed by A. Rubin, like the Tegra 2 platform) include:

  • NVIDIA Tegra 2 T20 Dual-Core Chipset
  • 1280 x 800 WXGA resolution
  • 32GB internal storage
  • Gyroscope
  • 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing one

Rumors also claim that the device itself is pretty light and that it is ready for the market, but still there is no information from Motorola about the tablet itself and possible release date and price. However, the hardware seem pretty good and the fact that it will be running Honeycomb + the option for 7 or 10-inch one would definitely make this a desired toy for many people. Probably the era of Samsung Galaxy Tab will end soon and a new one is about to begin? Stay tuned for more information about the upcoming Motorola Tablet.
