Android on a … 3D photo frame!

Yes, you’ve read the title correctly. We’ve seen Android on a various devices – mobile phones, tablets, personal media players, TV sets and now we will see it on a digital photo frame. Nikon has recently presented the new NF300i 2D/3D digital photo frame, which will be running on Android 2.1 OS out of the box. The most interesting features of the photo frame include:

  • 7.2-inch display
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g network support
  • LAN input – great if you still don’t have a wireless router
  • 4GB internal memory
  • Support for JPEG, MPO p, MPEG4 (H.264), AAC and MP3 file formats

NF300i also lets you enjoy a glasses-free 3D experience on its screen and offers many interesting things that any other Android-based device could offer – live weather forecast, built-in RSS reader, alarm clock, e-mail support and many other. However still there is no information whether there will be Android Market support or not, but let’s hope that Nikon won’t disappoint us.

If you become a member of Nikon’s online service “My Picturetown” you will be able to convert your 2D pictures into 3D! Yes, you will be able to convert your photos into 3D format by simply uploading your 2D pictures and Nikon’s team of engineers and software developers will work on it and convert it to 3D. The monthly fee is about 25$, but this is not much compared to the enjoyment seeing your favourite shots in 3D.
